    What is the best method for attaching the exhaust hose? The exhaust port isn't staying on the hose, and the hose itself isn't staying on the booth long enough to put the hose clamp on...

      Hi Rob, We are happy to see if we can help you fix this :) Might be best to send us an email (support@metrohobbies.com.au) with a picture, it sounds as the clamp might be off the collar, they should be pre-attached and might just need screwdriver to tighten it. But easiest to reach out to us directly for and we can confirm :)

      @@MetroHobbiesAus Thanks for getting back to me; I have addressed the issue since contacting you. The flue wasn't long enough for where I wanted to position the booth (I needed about another 60-90 cm), and have gotten the relevant new pipe and some sleeves to ensure a snug fit. I'll send you pics of the upgrade if you like.

    Tamiya have one other range of paints, specifically aimed at their RC range of vehicles, those being specifically for Polycarbonate. What type of paints are those? I think they're usually only in a spray can, as they're aimed at RC vehicles they might be more hard wearing?

    • @warwicksworkshop9511
      @warwicksworkshop9511 14 днів тому

      They don't say what type they are but I suspect lacquer. You can add a plasticiser to any paint, theoretically, to make it more flexible. I've used SMS 'Flex' with all the brands of lacquer paint brands with great success, both on PC and ABS.

    • @MetroHobbiesAus
      @MetroHobbiesAus 14 днів тому

      Hi Peter, Tamiya PS paints are a synthetic lacquer that is formulated to bond to polycarbonate and remains flexible once dry. They are not necessarily harder wearing, I've found they are actually a bit softer when fully dried. They are normally painted on the inside of a clear RC body (so it doesn't scratch off)

    • @peterbrown3608
      @peterbrown3608 14 днів тому

      @@MetroHobbiesAus Way back in the late 70's I built a couple of RC cars, Wild Willy's, I forget what the other one was called. Back then the bodies were just like normal plastic model kit bodies; I have the Fiat Abarth 1000 waiting to be built which has the clear polycarbonate body. Things have changed a lot.

    Thanks for this walk-through. I remember from 50 years ago when my father introduced me into plastic modelling, we only had Humbrol Enamel - and I did not know of anything else for decades after that. And when I used an airbrush for my first time (doing all my work with real brushes), I only found that this did not work the way I was used to ... but there was no one to explain to me why not.

    Great video, the Tamiya acrylic paints are alcohol based though not water based. I'm tempted to stock the AK paints as I'm looking for a decent brush on solution to stock

    • @warwicksworkshop9511
      @warwicksworkshop9511 14 днів тому

      Max said that the carrier in Tamiya paints is water soluble, which is correct. Semantics at this juncture though, really. Pro Tip: You can thin Tamiya acrylics with lacquer thinners and they behave just like a lacquer.

    • @Luke-en2tk
      @Luke-en2tk 14 днів тому

      @@warwicksworkshop9511 yeah I'm sure he knows his stuff it just sounded a little misleading as some of the others are water based. Yep I already stock the Tamiya lacquer thinners for the acrylics, it slows the drying period

    • @user-ly4ko3sf3s
      @user-ly4ko3sf3s 14 днів тому

    I realize that this is 3 years old or so, but I have to comment on what was said about tamiya's tracks. Some of the rubber tracks are glue together, like he said. However, some are supposed to be melted together with a hot screwdriver or something similar. If it is a child beginner building the kits, they would need adult supervision for that part.

    I noticed that you started over with a fresh nub when you introduced a new tool. I always thought you were supposed to cut with the side cutters and get as close as possible then shave off a little with the hobby knife then finish with some light sanding? Am I doing it wrong? Should I be just picking one of those tools for nub removal?

    • @MetroHobbiesAus
      @MetroHobbiesAus 26 днів тому

      There's really no one way to do it, just find what works for you! For this video we were trying to highlight to tools use, our Gundam Expert's favourite method is to cut the nub as close as you can with nippers (nothing better than GodHand 🙏) then to sand it down - this video was filmed a while ago, so we'll get an updated version up as soon as we can!

    Jumping may be “basics” to you but I just wanted to see how the steering works with the wheel on the side of the controller. As someone thinking about getting into the hobby, I’m puzzled why the steering wheel is on the side and not straight on.

    • @MetroHobbiesAus
      @MetroHobbiesAus 26 днів тому

      Thanks for your feedback! To answer your question, the wheel is on the side because it's ergonomically more comfortable to use the transmitter in your left hand, right index on the trigger, facing forward and turning the wheel left and right with your right hand, your thumb and forefinger. It allows you to comfortably walk, watch and drive your car, and pivot to follow the car. Its not like sitting in the car driving with your feet and hands, you need both hands active to drive the car, as well as hold the transmitter. We'll get our RC Department onto creating a new Steering Basics video ASAP to show this plus everything else you may want to know about steering and RC when you're first getting into the hobby 😄

    The Wesser P1003/1 is not something I expected to see in conventional, injection molded kit form! The first I heard of this Paleo-VTOL project was in a 2006 book by Zack Parsons titled, "My Tank Is Fight!" Mr. Parsons devoted an entire chapter to this questionable project in his book, where it was envisioned as a transport for elite troops. I suspect we'll be seeing a lot of these built-up at contests - on their own, and in dioramas - in the not too distant future . . . . 76th Like.

    This my first drift car but I dint like the fact the parts are absolutely impossible to source, so not really worth to buy. Driving wise its pretty easy to drift since the rear are full lock. But you could do the same with real rear differential by using higher viscosity diff oil. Overall I don’t recommend E4D, the biggest problem is real diff cups are plastic and they tends to break or worn out. If u want to swap with after market rear diff you gotta spend like 80usd for one, which is ridiculous!

    What should I do if the nozzle wont unscrew? Ive tried with a different airbrush, and I ended up unscrewing the nozzle too hard and it broke in half, with half of it stuck in the airbrush body.
